Matthew Cleary

Matt graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. Continuing his education, he obtained a Masters of Physiotherapy at University College of Dublin (UCD) in 2015. Originally from St. John’s, Matt has been working in private practice since 2016, and joined Nova Physio in October 2018.

Matt has completed post-graduate work by challenging the Level 1 Ortho Exam and completing Part A and B in the McKenzie course. During his years at university, Matt has completed research studies and co-authored two papers, including Muscle Activation Difference Between Barefoot and Shoe Running and Inter/Intra-Rater Reliability of Rehabilitative Ultrasound of the Glute Medius Muscle.

Matt has been involved in various sports throughout his life, with a heightened passion for basketball. He played for the U15 and U17 provincial teams, where he competed at Nationals in Sherbrooke, Vancouver and Calgary. While completing post secondary education, Matt played for the MUN Men’s Basketball program as well as UCD Men’s Basketball Program. Aside from basketball, Matt also plays touch football, has run the Tely 10 and Huffin Puffin Half Marathon and competed at the Regatta. When not working or playing sports, Matt enjoys downhill skiing, playing guitar, travelling and cooking.
